Description
Summary:Gregory’s letter to Letoios of Melitene with its apparatus criticus occupies only twelve printed pages of this book. It is interesting among Gregory's letters, being devoted to advice on the annual reconciliation before Easter and the different periods of penance to be imposed for different offences. This is a process which Gregory compares to the medical treatment of those physically sick. He claims to be passing on wherever possible the judgements of ‘the Fathers’, so quoting sources or traditions which for the most part the editor has not been able to locate.
