Description
Summary:R. T. France is one of Britain's most notable Matthew scholars, and this commentary could be seen as the crown of his work. His 1989 book Matthew Evangelist and Teacher explained France's views on major issues to do with Matthew's origins and theology, and now we have those views worked out in a full-length commentary. Understandably (perhaps frustratingly for those who haven't read his earlier work!) he does not give us a lengthy introduction going over the same ground again, but he plunges directly into exegesis after a modest 20 pages of orientation., This approach fits with the overall aim of his commentary since that aim is firmly exegetical.
