Summary: | The first two ‘part volumes’ (2002–3) of what will be a very large New Testament theology were reviewed in JTS 56, pp. 598–601. They provided an unusually (by German standards) conservative historical reconstruction of Jesus and the emergence of the early church as far as the Jerusalem apostolic ‘council’. These final two parts of the history of early Christian theology complete volume 1 of the whole. As in F. Hahn's two volumes (2002), the second will be more synthetic and dogmatic, presenting the unity of what Wilckens has now described in some detail. |
