An initial chapter examines the patristic evidence about Mark's Gospel: much of it is contradictory if taken as referring to a single text; however, Humphrey claims that it can all be reconciled once one accepts that the Gospel may have grown in stages and different witnesses are referring to different stages in that growth. | ||
