| Summary: | This volume consists mostly of papers read at a colloquium held in honour of the sixtieth birthday of Professor Oda Wischmeyer (Erlangen). Apart from the fact that the Jubilarin herself has also contributed a piece, it looks very much like a normal Festschrift, with the usual strengths and weaknesses., The strengths include a prominent group of contributors (from Germany) and the attempt to produce a thematically coherent volume in which Paul's biography and personality are elucidated from various points of view. A predictable weakness is that in the end less coherence is achieved than one might have thought after reading the introductory article by Eve-Marie Becker, who masterminded the colloquium. |
