Summary: | The distinguished author left uncompleted, on his death in 1997, a work on the mature Hilary to complement his 1971 essay on Hilary prior to exile. Marc Milhau here presents a text which he has edited and, he says, reshaped at some points without essential alteration. The outcome is a short book which treats the basic themes in Hilary with special reference to his writings as bishop during and after exile. Successive chapters deal with faith, hermeneutics, the anti-Arian polemic which elicited his doctrine of God and Christ, anthropology and ethics, and ecclesiology. |
