Description
Summary:The author notes that the Roman Catholic tradition stresses that Christian faith is not simply faith lived within the Church; it includes faith in the Church as a component of God's self-revelation. He tells us that his book will focus on the Roman Catholic Church. ‘Even more particularly, the “world” from which this book emerges, and which it seeks to address, is that of the Roman Catholic Church in contemporary Western culture’ (p. 3). He himself is an Australian., Chapter 1, ‘A Church in Peril’, gives a detailed account of the state of theology in the Catholic Church between the Council of Trent and the First Vatican Council and before and after the Second Vatican Council. This is clearly written and well documented.
