Summary: | In the cultural matrix within which the Old Testament arose, one genre of writing that was viable for publication was that of prophecy; and in our own cultural matrix an equivalent viable genre that has become increasingly prevalent in recent years is that of seminar or conference proceedings. Hence, as a collection of seminar papers dealing with the Latter Prophets, the present volume might be said to have more than a passing relationship with its subject matter: not only are they both the kind of material that is deemed publishable within their respective cultural settings, they both consist of material in which there is a complicated relationship between oral and literary forms. |
