Σύνοψη:Borrowing from the seventh-century BCE poet Archilochus, Isaiah Berlin famously observed that the fox knows many things, but the hedgehog knows one big thing. Paul-Gerhard Klumbies is a foxy hedgehog. While he manifestly knows and can skilfully implement Formgeschichte, Redaktionsgeschichte, and a variety of more recent literary approaches to the Gospels, the one big thing he knows and would have his readers know is that Mark's Gospel is an expression of ‘mythic ontology’. Such is the burden of this 2000 Habilitationsschrift for the University of Hamburg, guided by Gerhard Sellin.
