Summary: | Biblical theology needs to engage in dialogue with philosophical and systematic theology: that is the guiding principle of this book. Such an approach seems to me very welcome. The ground on which the dialogue is conducted here is the biblical canon, but further volumes are planned on other topics., The articles that make up the volume are rather heterogeneous, and not all, taken separately, contribute directly to the discussion that is envisaged, but the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Christine Helmer writes: , The argument underlying all contributions in this book is that the unity of the canon is hermeneutically constituted. Unity is a function of interpretation. The unity is ‘outside’ not ‘inside’ the text. |
