Summary: | The perplexing relationship between the MT text of 1 Kings and LXX 3 Regum has been examined by textual and literary critics alike. In particular, the section of the Solomon Narrative (1 Kings 2–11) has been accorded significant attention because of the qualitative and quantitative differences between the two textual witnesses. Most notably, Gooding, Trebolle Barrera, Talshir, and Schenker have each offered solutions towards an understanding of the textual relationship between the two versions, and now Van Keulen joins the debate., As the author summarizes in the Introduction (pp. 4–20), there have been three main theories concerning the relationship between these texts. |
