Description
Summary:This book achieves something of a tour-de-force in balancing accessibility to a wider readership with respect for the innate complexity and refinement of the arguments with which it deals. It describes the Trinitarian controversy in which the Dominican Durandus of St Pourçain began to distance himself from Thomas Aquinas, at a time when the Order was anxious to establish Aquinas's position as definitive. Durandus was of the immediately succeeding generation and proved a considerable embarrassment to the Order.
