Description
Summary:One of the strongest messages of this monograph is that there is no scholarly consensus concerning the history and development of Passover, and that a good deal of work needs to be done on the subject, as the first section of the work (a review of relevant literature) shows very clearly. Prosic approaches the Hebrew Bible through the work of T. L. Thompson, P. R. Davies, and other ‘radical’ Old Testament historians. So, to this extent, she regards the pre-history of the Passover as non-Yahwistic, and to this ancient festival, a Yahwistic gloss has been added at a relatively late period in its development—possibly in the Hellenistic period.
