Description
Summary:This volume, impressive both in bulk and in scope, represents a comprehensive ‘state of the discipline’ overview which should prove a valuable resource for both research and teaching for many years. It is organized into five sections dealing respectively with ‘General Topics’, ‘Commentary on or Interpretation of Specific Psalms’, ‘The Psalter as Book’, ‘Textual History and Reception’, and ‘Theology’, and includes amongst its contributors most of the leading figures in Psalms study. It is perhaps regrettable that the principal editors were not themselves able to add to the collection in their own right; Peter Flint's work on the Dead Sea Psalms is of the highest quality, and it would have been good if it had been possible to have included something on that topic.
