| Summary: | In the Easter story of John 20:1-18 the narrative category of space is applied metaphorically in order to illustrate inner acts of cognition and to impart Johannine christology. On the one hand the narrated movements of the characters reflect their steps of inner realization of the Easter events. On the other hand the direct speeches that are embedded in the story deal with the question where Jesus actually is. The different ways of the narrative figures to Easter faith thus refer to a process of growing insight that is presented in a narrative-theological way and that is communicated to the recipients by the dialogue structures of the text. |
