| Summary: | On the Insertion of the Barmen Theological Declaration inthe Church Constitution of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria. In the last decade, some German Lutheran Landeskirchen introduced a reference tothe 1934 Theological Declaration of Barmen into their Church Constitutions. This pa-per, first, reflects on the status of ”Barmen” within the context of the ”Lutheran Confessions”, second, outlines the respective revisions in both the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northern Germany and the Evangelical Church in Central Germany, and, third, scrutinizes more thoroughly the controversial debate in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria, focusing on theological arguments as well as on church politics. |
