Summary: | The increasing presence of posthumanism in contemporary culture can be traced in its multiple forms. After exemplifying this pervasive character and some of its manifestations, a few ethical concerns are highlighted by focusing on the posthuman moral agent, on the risk of escapism, and on the unquestioned trust in technology and its promises. Further, the critical assessment focuses on possible beneficial posthuman contributions, by empowering a selective questioning of humanism, as well as regrettable losses-notably human and social embodiment, which are central in the Christian experience shaped by the Incarnation. |
