Description
Summary:This contribution approaches the text of 2 Kgs 23:4-6 from the operational point of view of critical editions of the Hebrew (HBCE) and the Greek (Septuaginta Unternehmen) in order to pose a series of methodological questions on how to proceed with books, such as Kings, which circulated since the Second Temple period in multiple “editions” or “redactions.” This leads to the need to determine how far an editor can go when tracing back the origins of this plural tradition, and how differences between editions can be rendered via the standard system and conventions of an eclectic text, with its strengths and limitations.
