Der Doyen des diplomatischen Corps ist ein überzeugter Christ und beobachtet das Ereignis darum unter doppelten Gesichtspunkten. Er verfolgt das Konzil aus nächster Nähe, trifft die Protagonisten, organisiert Empfänge in der Botschaft und redigiert zahlreiche Berichte. 1965 interveniert er persönlich in den Debatten, die den Gebrauch von Atomwaffen betreffen. Der Diplomat ist dabei jedoch nicht repräsentativ für sein Ministerium. In Brüssel werden seine Aktivitäten mit einer gewissen Gleichgültigkeit betrachtet. Wiederholt bedauert Poswick übrigens die schwache Unterstützung, die er von seinem Ministerium erhält und von seinem Vorgesetzten, dem Sozialisten Paul-Henri Spaak, der sein geringes Interesse kaum verbirgt… | ||

Prosper Poswick, a close ambassador to the Holy See, represented Belgium during the heart of the 1960s as an important personality. As Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, he was also a diplomat who was revered as a devout Christian, allowing him a dualistic view of the Council. In following the Council closely : he met the protagonists, organised receptions at the embassy, and wrote numerous reports. In 1965, he personally intervened in the debates concerning the use of nuclear weapons. As a diplomat, however, he was not representative of his office.
