Description
Summary:This work is difficult to review because it is a practical handbook, and its author is himself aware that there are always limits to practicability and usability. Various general criticisms of a scholarly or indeed purely technical nature may, indeed, be made, and spot-checking also indicates specific problems, but it is fair to explain first the rationale of the work. In spite of the rather exaggerated reference to ‘early Christian writings’ in the subtitle, this is effectively a synopsis of the Gospels, most specifically of the three synoptics, with the Johannine parallels given when appropriate, but adding also parallels from the Gospel of Thomas (but not other early Christian material).
