Description
Summary:Volleys of Humanity: Essays 1972–2009 is a welcome addition to the numerous texts by Hélène Cixous that have been recently published in English. This collection shows that her critical and philosophical writing keeps pace with her prodigious fictional output (her work is notoriously difficult to pin down in terms of genre; distinctions between fiction, criticism, and theory are continually undermined in her work)., Many of the essays in this volume are published in English for the first time and a few have no previous French publication. Many were first given as conference papers in French or English. Prenowitz’s selection provides a compelling overview of the range of Cixous’s critical work over four decades.
