| Summary: | The VSI series has gained a deserved reputation for producing intelligent and comprehensive introductions to a wide range of subjects. Due to the diverse interests of its presumed readership, it is expected that subjects will be treated in a very broad fashion, to appeal to such a wide constituency. This presents the author of a title on Jesus with some difficult choices; is Jesus a religious teacher, a historical personality, an icon of religious belief, the initiator of a world religion? Some or all of these questions might be appropriate for inclusion in a book designed for a general readership., Bauckham’s offering will answer some of these questions. |
