| Summary: | There has been, as the authors of this volume rightly note in their preface, a positive explosion of interest in apocryphal and pseudepigraphic writings associated both with the Old and New Testaments, and it must be said at the outset that this contribution to that field of study is well-produced, impressive, useful, and also commendably inexpensive as a working tool. There have of course been good collections of New Testament apocrypha available in English translation (as well as in other languages) for a long time. These include most notably Alexander Walker’s Apocryphal Gospels, Acts and Revelations (Edinburgh: Clarke, 1870) in the Ante-Nicene Christian Library, M.R. |
