Description
Summary:In Faith, Hope and Poetry, Malcolm Guite truly puts the reader in the position of the hopeful believer and outlines how such a faithful approach impacts on the poetic imagination, identified in the works of an eclectic and yet highly canonical litany of English verse. Reading works ranging from a seventh century poet, over Shakespeare, Donne and Milton, to Coleridge, Thomas Hardy, and Seamus Heaney, he establishes essential truth claims in order to discern and retain their theological significance beyond their literary creation (and intention). The role of the poetic imagination here lies in its aid to the realisation of the salvific action of the Logos of God.
