Summary: | The recent publication (2000–04) of the late Sister Maria Boulding’s five-volume translation of Augustine’s Ennarationes in Psalmos has justly been praised for the vividness of the translation, the substantial editorial and contextual work and above all the service to theology that a new translation of these great works represents. The edition seems likely to spawn a number of monographs focusing on the Ennarationes, an undoubtedly overlooked work in recent Augustinian scholarship (although it is noteworthy that classic studies such as John Burnaby’s Amor Dei rely substantially on it). The only published monograph that Jason Byassee cites devoted to the Ennarationes is Michael Fiedorowicz’s Psalmus Vox Totius Christus (1997), which remains available only in German. |
