Description
Summary:Thisinterdisciplinary volume examines what is now termed reception history; the broadened horizons of the ‘afterlives’ of Biblical texts where artists, writers and composers increasingly contribute to biblical interpretation. Joynes is to be congratulated at the outset for combining a team who deliver a cross section of the arts examining many aspects of the Passion and who express their accounts in articulate, well researched essays. She has avoided the over reliance on Fine Art where too many depictions of religious paintings can be used to promote this avenue of enquiry. We are presented with ten essays; three deal with music, three with painting, two are literary and two mixed/multi-media presentations.
