Description
Summary:Appearing in the SUNY series in Theology and Continental Thought, W. David Hall's book claims that Paul Ricoeur's religious writings offer an important context for interpreting his philosophical project. According to Hall, the ‘speculative impasses’ scattered throughout Ricoeur's writings, beyond which philosophical explanation cannot proceed, mark a ‘poetic crossing’ between philosophy and theology, where there emerges what Hall describes as a ‘creative tension’ between the ideals of love and justice (p. 2)., Hall's discussion of this tension offers a useful overview of a wide range of Ricoeur's philosophical and religious writings.
