Description
Summary:At least since the rise of second wave feminism, feminist theologians have turned to women's literary writing to fuel their critiques and revisions of andocentric and patriarchal theological traditions. However, as Heather Walton decisively demonstrates in both of her recent publications, Literature, Theology and Feminism and Imagining Theology: Women, Writing and God, while feminist theology is indebted to women's literature for narratives, themes, characters and images that resonate with and subsequently sanction women's spiritual lives, there has been little sustained reflection upon the methodologies utilised, nor comprehensive assessment of the underlying relationship between feminist theology and literature.
