Summary: | This companion to the study of religion can and should be recommended to students and scholars of religion. Its reach is broad, both when it comes to the contributors and to the topics treated. However, the many facets of the book are both its strength and its weakness, and though it can be read through from A to Z it should rather accompany study of a particular field., The editor is an experienced author and editor. His main area of research is Zoroastrianism and the Parsis, but he has also edited and written books and texts from a more theoretical and comparative perspective., The list of contributors is impressive. In the preface, Hinnells explains the plan of choosing authors who are specialists and leaders in their fields. |
