Sumario:What I attempt to trace out in this essay are the ways my work and thinking have been effected by, first, my experience of being ‘outed’ by several conservative members of a divinity school and, second, the publication of my book Sex and the Church Four years after these events, I find myself asking a series of questions that potentially shed light not only on matters of faith but also on the issues of human subjectivity.
