Summary: | Lacan's psychoanalysis, addressing the human being in his existential firututde, can help the reader to ta new insight into the old gospel. Especially his interpretation of the Oedipus complex, the three main aspects of his listening method: unknowing, the transference and the symbolic reading and his understanding of the three components of perception, the Real (caused by fear and resulting in an arhetorical expression), the Imaginary (the image in the mirror constituting the I as a totality which promotes itself with rhetoric)and the Symbolic (the lingual system which plays up in the metarhetorical aspect of one's utterances) help us to illustrate the apostles' progress in understanding Jesus' message. Further parallels are drawn between the relation analysand-analyst and the one of Jesus with the Father, finally with the situation of the praying person and his addressee. |
