Summary:The article argues for a strong connection of spiritual and physical care and investigates the question of state- versus church-related social work through the example of a Lutheran women's organization that offers mothers’ recuperation. Through this example, it becomes obvious that too much involvement of the government is as much an obstacle as too little involvement that leaves the question of standards and regulations to the economic competition of social services.
