| Итог: | A proposta deste artigo é analisar como as histórias dos primeiros protestantes que vieram ao Brasil no século XVI foram recontadas no século XX, e como reverberam ainda nos dias de hoje. Os calvinistas sonhavam com um refúgio distante das guerras de religião; mas no Brasil, ora se deparavam com o catolicismo e a inconstância religiosa de Villegagnon, ora enfrentavam o catolicismo reformado da Companhia de Jesus. E um dos mais ilustres jesuítas, São José de Anchieta, ainda hoje tem sua santidade questionada pelas relações que estabeleceu com os protestantes. As divergências sobre o caráter do santo evidenciam o conflito entre diferentes concepções de laicidade no Brasil. This article is to analyze the stories of the first Protestants who came to Brazil in the 16th century, which were described in the 20th century and how they still echo nowadays. The Calvinists had dreamed of a distant refuge from the religious wars, however, in Brazil sometimes they came across Catholicism and the religious inconstancy of Villegagnon, and sometimes they faced the Reformed Catholicism of the Society of Jesus. Saint Jose de Anchieta, one of the most notable jesuits, still today has his sanctity questioned due to the relations he established with the Protestants. The divergences on the character of the saint show the conflict between the conceptions of secularism in Brazil. |
