| Summary: | The article accomplishes a reflection about issues of gender from several situations and representations involving characters and facts of the Brazilian political landscape. It makes evident how gender structures social relations besides other markers and how, particularly through language, it is expressed in politics and in the public space in the form of violence for its heteropatriarchal and heterosexist matrix. This violence is potentialized by the articulation between politics and religion in the public space, especially when religious discourses and practices are grounded in the same matrix. But, so as at the level of language, understood as act of speech and performance, resistance is also present through movements that question hegemonic patterns of power and create alternatives to violence. |
