Summary: | This article proposes to present the ecumenical pastoral of a local church analyzing the acts and ecumenical initiatives of Archbishop A.M. Gottardi, who was head of the archdiocese of Trento from 1963 to 1988. The reception of ecumenical instances in a diocese can present new impulses to institutional and theological ecumenicalism by promoting significant relations among Christians belonging to different churches. The teaching and the ecumenical work of Mons. Gottardi is characterized by the attention to the spiritual dimension and to the dialogue of charity and constitutes a valid model of basic ecumenicalism. As an answer to the ecumenical consignment given to the archdiocese of Trento by Paul VI in 1964 itineraries of ecumenical and interreligious dialogue have developed. Apart from the indispensable act of reconciliation with the Jewish community, in 1966, further ways of encountering the protestant and orthodox groups can be pointed out, which evidence the constitutions of the diocesan synod (1984-1986), which in turn summarizes the ecumenical engagement of the church of Trento and lays the ground for further progress. |
