Zusammenfassung:The author explores how current Christian expressions of an Indigenous people in the Argentine Chaco have been shaped by their previous spirituality. He goes on to observe transforming effects of the gospel as it permeates the culture. The resulting descriptive picture of Toba/Qom spirituality illustrates the dialectical relationship between the old faith and the new. Readers are invited to consider this often unrecognized but always present dynamic in the ongoing conversion process, as well as its implications for the world church. Special attention is given to the role of missionary accompaniment of the Toba/Qom in the early stages of this process.
