Description
Summary:The Biographical Dictionary of Christian Missions was published in November 1997 by Macmillan Reference, New York City. Such a reference tool had never before been created. It includes articles on 2,400 outstanding persons in the history of missions, representing Roman Catholic, Orthodox, Anglican, Protestant, Pentecostal, independent, and indigenous churches. The articles were written by 349 authors in 45 countries. In addition to bibliographies with each article, there is an extensive index of almost 5,000 items and an elaborate system of appendixes covering 45 pages. The appendixes provide lists of biographies according to categories of interest: time period; women; martyrs; region of service; selected major agencies, orders, religious traditions; non-Western persons; and type of work.
