Description
Summary:Paul's use of Scripture in 2 Corinthians is sometimes regarded as incidental and casual. This evaluation is possible, however, only if the 'alleged "fragment"' of 6.14-7.1, with its well-formed catena of OT citations in 6.1c-18, is excluded from consideration. The present article suggests that 6.14—7.1 is not only integral to Paul's apology for his apostleship in 2.14-7.4, but that the catena in particular makes a crucial point about the New Covenant which provides closure for the whole apology. Thus Paul's restoration theology forms the framework for the apostle's argument in 2.14-7.4.
