Description
Summary:This paper investigates Mircea Eliade’s actuality. Following in the footsteps of his Italian teacher Raffaele Petazzoni, the well-known Rumanian historian of religion developed the history of religions as the foundation for an integral science of religions. His historical phenomenological approach, which places symbolism at the center of attention beginning with the dialectic of the sacred and the profane, is open to further developments for understanding and dialogue among the different religious traditions of humanity, which must – above all on today’s ever shrinking planet – live together in a close and interdependent relationship.
