Summary:Enea Silvio Piccolomini (1406-1464), pope Pius II (1458-1464), cultivated the historiographic genre with particular attention to the political and geographic aspects, to the ethic and religious ones, and to the main characters of his times. This article considers the figure of antipope Felix V (Duke Amadeus VIII of Savoy), for whom Piccolomini is one of the sources, and the evolution of Piccolomini’s judgment from the works written during the council of Basil through those on his papacy.
