Summary: | In the past, the pericope Gc 2:14-26 was object of interpretative misunderstandings, because it was often juxtaposed to Pauline texts directed at the Galatians and the Romans. The relationship Paul-James is an emblematic case of unity and diversity in the New Testament. The goal of Jamesian theology is not to obstruct Pauline theology, but a model of conceiving faith that does not lead to an operative and active life. This paper gives an overview of the history of the exegesis and documents how different authors from Augustine to Luther emphasized or minimized the presumed polemic. |
