| Summary: | Ethics is always on the lookout not only for solutions to concrete moral problems, but also for methods and principles capable of illuminating moral judgment. Commenting a famous Hassidic tale, this paper attempts to focus on certain dynamics inherent to narrative ethics and to underscore their propositive and performative aspects. In this framework, it becomes possible to verify how deeply embedded the various ethical theories are in the lived experiences that became narrative. Theory and praxis, therefore, seem to meet in a productive fashion in the narrative arts and offer orientation criteria to ethics re sense and – indirectly – the normative stage. |
