The problem of the Anonymous Christian is simply an internal problem regarding the Church’s self-perception. In fact, the theory’s pastoral application can be found in the encyclical of Pope John Paul II, Redemptoris Missio, and the document of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue and the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, Dialogo e annuncio: riflessioni ed orientamenti sul dialogo interreligioso e sull’annuncio del vangelo di Gesù Cristo. The encyclical is emphatic about «the urgent need for missionary evangelization» in today’s world. However, the document wants to show how the propagation of the gospel and interfaith dialogue are correlated although they are two distinct elements of the Church’s evangelizing mission. | ||
