Summary:The aim of this study is to clarify the nature of Christian ethics and its implications for secular society. This is achieved by way of engagement with the theology of Karl Barth. Barth is useful on this question for he presents a thoroughly counter-modern theological ethics, as he works from an uncompromising theological framework. The implications of applying Christian ethics to secular society are discussed by way of conversation with Barth, and a way forward suggested in the form of a missional focused Christian ethic.
