Summary: | The preceding article by Eugene A. Nida on “Akamba Initiation Rites and Culture Themes” was read by Fred Peng in a pre-publication draft. Mr. Peng suggested an alternative analysis of the culture themes of the group, and this is reproduced here with a concluding rejoinder by Dr. Nida. From the point of view of the Christian gospel which often challenges cultural values and assumptions in a radical way, the study of culture themes which highlight these values is potentially very fruitful. |
