In den Krisen, denen Menschen aktuell ausgesetzt sind, wird die Krise der Arbeit als deren Zusammenhang erkennbar. Mit ihr stößt die kapitalistische Gesellschaft auf eine Grenze, die sie nicht mehr überwinden kann. Wenn diese Problematik als Herausforderung für die Theologie angenommen werden soll, muss sie ihr weitgehend transhistorisches Verständnis von Arbeit infrage stellen und gesellschaftstheoretische Erkenntnisse aufnehmen, die das Ganze der aktuellen Verhältnisse erkennbar machen. Work and labour are not part of the human essence and are not to be understood ontologically, but have established themselves with capitalism as a compulsion to work and the “societal synthesis” of capitalist relationships. In the crises that people are currently exposed to, the crisis of work and labour becomes recognizable as their connection. With the crisis, capitalist society faces a limit which it cannot overcome. If this problem is to be accepted as a challenge for theology, it will have to question its largely transhistorical understanding of work and incorporate socio-theoretical insights that make it possible to see the current conditions as a whole. |
