This study argues that the age of thirty takes on significance when it is read against historical parallels and Israel's destiny to be a kingdom of priests, and against Jewish ideas about priesthood. Jesus' age provides proleptic evidence that he will eclipse and fulfill all of God's demands upon Israel. |
