Description
Summary:The modern translations: Good News Bible (GNB), New International Version (NIV), New Jerusalem Bible (New JB), New Revised Standard Version (New RSV) and Revised English Bible (REB) of the following verses are examined: 1:4b-5, 7, 13; 2:12; 4:13; 5:1. It is argued that the author did not have the simple expectation of an imminent end that is presented in these translations. Instead, he emphasizes that Christ is revealed in the Christian life.
