Summary: | It has been 10 years since the incident at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant in Japan. This article examines the complicated problems of the release of wastewater from this plant. It explores its three main areas – 1) safety and science; 2) feasibility and costs; 3) responsability – in the light of Pope Francis’ encyclicals Laudato si’ and Fratelli tutti. The Fukushima nuclear waste water should be treated seriously, transparently and responsibly, not for political agendas, but for the common good of all humanity and international solidarity in the way of justice and peace. |
