Description
Summary:The publication of some of Karl Rahner’s writings in the then German Democratic Republic provides an interesting insight into the workings of communist censorship. Only a small part of Rahner’s writings were published at all. This article traces what could be published in the GDR, what the conditions for publication entailed, and some of the reasons for rejection by the office for state propaganda. Furthermore, some publications were also prevented by church authorities out of fear of conflict with the state authorities.
